Guest Guest Posted August 7, 2010 Carl,Michelle is a pretty girl. You have focused very well on her eyes. She has good eye contact with the camera (viewer) and good catch lights. Her skin tone is excellent and her make-up looks very good. I like the butterfly (Hollywood) lighting. The backlight gives nice highlights to her hair and helps to separate her from the neutral background. Her pose looks quite nice, but she is over too far to the left. It makes your portrait feel very left heavy -- even with her left forearm dominating the right side. The viewer's eyes are fighting between her face and her left arm. It would be better to position the tip of her nose in the vertical center of the photograph. This would give you better left and right compositional balance. I would crop just a tab off the top, too. There is a shadow line in the upper right background.I wish she looked a little happier. Her expression doesn't do much for her nice looks. Her pupils are quite dilated. If you use brighter modeling lights or have a brighter area to shoot her in, her eyes will not become so dilated.Nice shot,Mark Link to comment
Pierre Dumas 258 Posted August 7, 2010 The second rule of composition for portraits is: The hand (not the arm) must be in the picture! It is the only thing I can remark to this one! Yes, some retouching of the black dot on the upper lip could have been done! Cheers Carl!PDE Link to comment

myattphotoandfotoart39 1 Posted August 10, 2010 Fine portrait. I would say the same as Pierre about the hand. Link to comment
alexto 0 Posted August 10, 2010 The portrait is pleasant to me, can be has made more contrast it, on my taste, but the cut off right hand simply destroys that positive that I see in a portrait and model. Yours faithfully, Alex. Link to comment
