Hike at your own risk

well, that's what those big, dark, stormy clouds were telling to

everyone in the valley - i.e. yours truly and, perhaps, a few marmots :-)

Rather amazingly it didn't rain, instead the sky broke a few minutes

later, flooding the valley with the warm light of the setting sun.

 

This is the Valnontey river, with the walls and glacier of the Gran

Paradiso massif in the background. Taken about a week ago.

Beautiful shot Paolo. Very well executed.  You must have had your feet wet on this one.  I love the details and colors in the rocks in the foreground. I also like the foreboding atmosphere you captured. You were brave to face this cloud, and lucky it did not burst...  Cheers - michel
