Landrum Kelly 64 Posted July 31, 2010 This is from my first day trying to shoot with a macro lens. It was avery dark, cloudy day, and so these are grainy from being shot at ISO3200 on the 50D. Comments welcome.--Lannie Link to comment
Emmanuel Enyinwa 0 Posted July 31, 2010 Nice work for a fist attempt. Next time, use a slower speed and achieve less grain. Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 64 Posted August 1, 2010 Thanks, Emmanuel. I think that I shall also shoot with the 5D II next time so that I can turn up the ISO with relative impunity. Even resized crops would be less noisy than pictures made with the 50D, as Scott Ferris' recent thread on PN clearly shows.--Lannie Link to comment

Landrum Kelly 64 Posted August 1, 2010 Thank you, Rashed. I will pray--and even dance--for sun the next time I try this, so that I can shoot at low ISO and be done with the grain/noise.--Lannie Link to comment
Tom Wiggins Photography 0 Posted August 1, 2010 Lannie: Well done, this bug is really getting a lot of photo time. I think this one is much better than "All Downhill from Here". Tom Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 64 Posted August 1, 2010 Thanks, Tom. He gets a lot of time here because he was slow enough that I could shot him!--Lannie Link to comment
ifti 1 Posted August 1, 2010 Very colorful bug you captured its vibrant colors well. It is sharp revealing details of it antenna and legs. I like your composition at a slant. BG is nicely blurred. At ISO 3200 it is a very good picture but when viewed large it does show some noise. Regards, ifti. Link to comment
