Barely Hanging On, July, 2010

This is from my first day trying to shoot with a macro lens. It was avery dark, cloudy day, and so these are grainy from being shot at ISO3200 on the 50D. Comments welcome.

Nice work for a fist attempt. Next time, use a slower speed and achieve less grain.

Thanks, Emmanuel.  I think that I shall also shoot with the 5D II next time so that I can turn up the ISO with relative impunity.  Even resized crops would be less noisy than pictures made with the 50D, as Scott Ferris' recent thread on PN clearly shows.

Very colorful bug you captured its vibrant colors well.  It is sharp revealing details of it antenna and legs. I like your composition at a slant. BG is nicely blurred.

  At ISO 3200 it is a very good picture but when viewed large it does show some noise.   Regards, ifti.
