Pretty much the typical postcard/calender shot, but the composition beckoned me to

capture this expansive view. This is standing up country for sure. Thanks for your

observations, the Larger preview is preferred!

This is my fave of the six in the folder!  This really has it all--wide expansive view, tremendous depth, and superb visual interest.  Excellent composition, exposure, and processing.  You have done very well with this gem!  Cheers!  Chris

Hey Chris, thanks for the positive words on this. This composition just grabbed me when I rounded a corner. A very enjoyable drive above the Owen's River Gorge. It was good to get away for a couple of days, but I could have stayed a couple more!

Thanks Maurizio and Richard! This scene encapsulates the true American west for me. While not obvious, the composition works because the eyes are lead up the draw from BL, through the opening created by the tree on the right, to the mountain and beyond. Take care!

Mark... I've seen some great postcards and this ranks right up there with the best ;-)... A really well captured scene... Mike

very well done the proportions in the composition. it would be even more stunning with some point of interest in the foreground (maybe just my point of view).

the overall impact is great, and your processing skills contribute very much for that. it is a little bit HDR style but also natural in the same time. the tones, colors, contrast are so fine, pulled with good taste very sensibly, that is a real joy to look at the photo. i aspire to make my processing at this level, as you get better pictures from Pentax k10, as i do from a Canon 5d mk2.

Thanks Mike and Zsolt! I agree Zsolt. In all honesty, I just stepped out of the car, set up my tripod and shot the scene without too much diligence of composition. There wasn't really much else for foreground interest, but I felt that the expanse of sagebrush was a significant part of the scene, so I let that dominate the foreground. Thanks again for your input!
