Swooping Hawk, Mono Lake

buck_forester

Photo was taken during the morning. I had set up my shot and used the 10-second self-timer. Just before the shutter released, a hawk swooped into the scene. I wish I could say I planned it that way, but I gotta be honest! It just happened that way. This is a cropped version.

Mono Lake is one of my favorite places to mess around with my

camera. The colors and strange landscapes fascinate me. Here's a

shot from a couple weekends ago (early Nov, 2002), right after a big

storm the previous day. I was using Velvia with my Canon 24-85mm

zoomed out to 24mm. I do believe I was using a 2-stop soft GND (but

I wouldn't swear by it). Any comments or suggestions are welcomed.

Thanks!

I am not much of a landscape photographer, but I really like this photograph.

It is well composed, no matter how the bird got there.

My only criticism, is the highlight from the formation in the lower right corner, it is a bit disctracting, my eye wanders there frequently.

Buck: Still shooting the good shots, I see. Just at a lower altitude for a while. This is another nice one. Isn't it nice when nature provides additional actors?
