Can you identify the person on the left as a woman? Is this a story-telling

image? Is there anything I should have done differently?

Hi Rajat, to answer your questions:

1) Yes, the woman is easy to identify; she was the fourth I looked at (the man, the sign, the dark tunnel, then her). I would normally prefer selective focus such as you have here, but in this instance a wider DoF to also have her in focus might have benefited the image (see below).

2) Unfortunately, I have to be honest and say this picture doesn't hold a story for me. I see the man is holding a bouquet of flowers (?) so there is potentially a story; perhaps if there was time before the train arriving, and you waited so we could see his face or some non-verbal interaction between the two, but as it is, the picture just tells me that two people are waiting for the train with emphasis on the sign.

3) In my view, images like this benefit more from sharpness than the absence of noise, so I would have cranked up the ISO to gain higher shutter speed.

Overall, I find the composition perfectly suiting the square crop enhanced by the nice balance of light and dark sides. I would say it's a strong image.

Thank You! For a clear, careful, and honest appraisal of the photograph. I appreciate it deeply... and hope more people find the time and inclination, as you have, to offer meaningful critiques on this or other photographs - mine or another's.

Hi Rajat,

even is Michael's POV is clearly explained I disagree with him. The technincal aspects here, imho, are not very important and the story I read is full of anxiety. What will appear from the tunnel or, better, from the dark? Is the man waiting the train to step in or to meet a person, a woman probably, that will step out? Will he/she arrive? And the blurred woman (i don't need a sharper one) has some kind of relation with him or, maybe with the person he is waiting (I imagine that the woman is trying to hide herself to the man sight).

Am I smoking something different form tobaccos? MAybe, but I really like the inquietude in this picture
