Oh, Lordy, were there mosquitoes?  I was quite worried, for a time, that you and I would be carried off by the bloody buggers.  I was also concerned when you waded out into the lake with your camera and tripod to work on some underwater photography in an effort to escape the little flying devils!  I have heard that water is hard on Canons.  What a grand morning we had up there!  Cheers!  Bear

I might add that this is beautifully worked up, Leo.  I really like what you have done.  It is greatly improved, in my opinion!  Cheers!  Bear

I got to tell you that this is one of my most pleasant and lasting memories in all my photo trips. The struggle with steep stairs (the trail is so steep that stone stairs extend the full vertical mile of ascent) just to get to this place. I have never had to rest so many times as I did on this trek. The hoards of mosquitoes that seem to be feeding on our repellent, the soggy ground, and did I mention mosquitoes? But once we started photographing, it all seem to just disappear. I believe that our singing not only scared the mosquitoes away but the wildlife as well. What a great time, with great friend. The trip down was as difficult, if not more difficult than the trip up. It felt so good to finally get to the car, take off our backpacks and sit down. Now what could make this even more memorable but breakfast at the rustic Tioga Pass Restaurant. Strong coffee, excellent food and my two best buddies. The best cup of Joe I've ever had! Good memories, good memories. I reworked this image as an HDR consisting of three exposures, which handled the dynamic range quite well. Thanks for the encouraging words, Bear....Henry the eighth, I am, Henry the eighth, I am..........

Excellent image, Leo. I like the tones and the well balanced color. I also enjoy the quite feeling I can notice here. Well done. Thank you for your kind words.

Eugenio.

I thought the original was pretty cool but this one shines because I feel like I can reach in and grab a handful of water right out of that lake.  Awsome job of combining the dynamic ranges. And oh, you two singing scared everything on the mountain!! I've heard ya :>))

Everything about this image is a treat!  The reflection is wonderful, the moody sky is quite striking and the greens and pinks of the the foreground are stunning.  It's like veiwing the semi-precious stones in a lovely piece of jewelry.  Great moment captured Leo!

To be able to "make a man's afternoon", with this many miles between us, makes me smile.

You just gotta love this medium, and our senses of humour!  Double entendres abound!  It just doesn't get any better than this!  You guys are the best, both of you!  Cheers!  Chris

This is a remake of a previously posted image. This rendition is also

an HDR worked up with Photomatix 3.0. Although these two images are

similar, I feel this one is a little truer to the original scene. My

goal is always to present the most aesthetic image rather than a

perfect representation at the time the shutter was released. Lower

Gaylor Lake is in Yosemite Valley and getting there is quite a

grueling hike, ascending over a 1000 feet in just a little over a

mile. Be sure to bring plenty of mosquito repellent, as you will

definitely need it. Your comments are always welcome.
