tonyfrench 0 Posted July 27, 2010 Pnina, what a beautiful and mysterious photo. THe lighting on the head is stunning and the dynamic of the hand extending through the translucent veil creates a sense of tension and urgency. Link to comment
ray.koushik 0 Posted July 27, 2010 Nice photo and appropriate caption. you do capture pain in this. compliments -koushik Link to comment
Donna Stavis 0 Posted July 27, 2010 The shimmering yellow is eye-catching. Her hand creates the illusion of a head bowed and veiled in mourning... at first glance... only later do I find her face, which even in the veil is illuminated. Link to comment
amalsircar 2 Posted July 27, 2010 Pnina, a fascinating image. You have been able to capture her pain in Neo-classic style. Her outstretched hand and open mouth ,reminds of the painting "Death of Marat" or crucifixion. Superb composition, exposure , light and yellow against black ,make the image. Link to comment
ldavidson 4 Posted July 27, 2010 Hi Pnina! I really like this. The transparent golds in the fabric is wonderful, so interesting to look at against the strong black. The way the light hits it is lovely. I have been looking at this for several minutes now, I keep rotating my head trying to see it from different angles. I wonder what this would look like if the figure was diagonal? Not a criticism, I just think it might be interesting. This would be great from any point of rotation. I really enjoy your beautiful images. Warm wishes from Canada, Linda Link to comment
hamidfarzandian 0 Posted July 27, 2010 Great use of light to create such artful capture! Bravo.Hamid. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted July 28, 2010 Tony, thanks for your nice evaluation, it is a dance creation that I like a lot ,as it is very touching each human personal life and memories.Kaushik, thanks for feeling the scene.Donna, the light in general was not the best as is was in a studio in Yaffo, but my general experience was of help...thanksMario, thanks ,nice to see you again.Amal, your analogy is fluttering, "The death of Marat" painted by Jaques/Luis David, is a well known work of art. I think that what is similar is the feeling of pain..Thanks Amal . (for your wide knowledge as well.) Linda, thanks for your thoughts and connecting to it and to my work. ,I agree that it can be done in different directions, but it is already a bit diagonal in line, and the way it is placed on the frame was, I think, passing the message. I'm glad it took your attention for more than a fraction;-))Hamid, thanks for your stopping by and comment. Alberto, thanks as well for your following my work and comments. Link to comment
adan1 0 Posted July 28, 2010 Intense and powerful composition. The agony on her face with her hand extended convey the title eloquently. I like how you caught the details of the veil so precisely. Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted July 29, 2010 Her hand appears wrenched from her body. The veil emanating from her hand almost appears like a jellyfish that has trapped her. I like the yellow ominous light. Link to comment
wieslawmamon 0 Posted July 29, 2010 it took me a while to make out what's going on here, JeffS uses great word to describe the light imo as ominous is exactly what comes also to my mind. The title perfectly fits the scene and I think the large area of the dark background has a great impact on the overall creepy atmosphere of the image. Best regards. Link to comment
toloduran 0 Posted July 30, 2010 Magnifica toma. Excelente composicion y encuadre, asi como una estupenda exposicion y momento captado, con una sensacional luz y tonos. ++Un cordial saludo -Tolo. Link to comment
vadima 0 Posted July 31, 2010 Big WOW, Pnina, such an interesting composition and the tints of yellow and brown are just fantastic. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted July 31, 2010 Adan thanks. It was a very difficult setup ,as it was in a studio and so the light and surrounding were not ideal, but my experience was of help.... Thanks Jeff, ominous yes ,light and pose were my strong feelings depicting human pain and fear , hence the title. Wieslaw, as I wrote to Jeff, I'm content that you find it ominous as well , as it helps me know that I have succeeded to translate my feeling to a frame of photography that conveys the substance of the dance expression to: " Life as a Dance"... Bob and Rajat, thanks both of you ,Tolo and Vadim thanks as well, I appreciate your connection to this one, and your comments. Link to comment
AJHingel 127 Posted July 31, 2010 Very dramatic and intriguing. The Composition is just perfect bringing a balance to a scene that seems to in movement but with no hint about direction. The color palette is beautiful and strongly contrasted to the totally black background underscoring the drama. What is going on is for me impossible to tell from the scene but impressive it is. Beautiful work Pnina. I'll included in my favorites. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted August 1, 2010 I'm honored. Thanks for such a nice interpretation. For me as I wrote it is "Life as a Dance" ,and the scene is photographed at the dance called " Private Collection". I think that each of us has his private collection of life experiences and memories. Thanks again, Anders. Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted August 3, 2010 My God, Pnina, this appears to be some dance macabre. But the colors and tones are superb and it's really a distinuished picture. Link to comment
sideris 0 Posted August 3, 2010 When I see this collection of you (dancers, I mean) I feel jealousy (a bit) Not only because your talent (that I haven't) but your opportunity to get inside the scene in itself, the chance to be present with them capturing every single trace of magic, like in this case. I love it, not only because the inherent beauty but because it make me think, demanding me an effort to interpret it, to feel, to get in, so, the kind of works that I love, the essence of photography.
