patricklavoie 1 Posted August 4, 2010 Alcatraz Island is an island located in the San Francisco Bay, 1.5 miles (2.4 km) offshore from San Francisco, California. Often referred to as The Rock, the small island early-on served as a lighthouse, a military fortification, a military prison, and a Federal Bureau of Prisons federal prison until 1963. Later, in 1972, Alcatraz became a national recreation area and received landmarking designations in 1976 and 1986. Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted August 6, 2010 hi patrick... this is outstanding... you have seized the essence of alcatraz....i visited this prison not so long ago and you have brought back those erie feelings for me that i had when i was inside the prison and grounds.. it may be morally incorrect for me to say this but i hoped they escaped........ take care samme Link to comment
dbcooper 0 Posted August 26, 2010 Beautiful, powerful, and mournful. It made me think of the souls of those who see no escape from their troubles but to hope and dream, the spirits of those who died in refugee and internment camps around the world, and Robert Stroud. Link to comment
r_johnston 0 Posted September 13, 2010 Love this, it proves what Ive always said, that the "Rule of thirds" is really only a suggestion. And the subject should be what controls composition. Link to comment
