Certainly, to me, instantly recognizable as a mustang.I like the colors and the semi abstractness. The flaps being down, clean background (aside from the string under the wing) and the grass strip make this an interesting photo. however, im not sold on the centeredness of it - from the prop to the nose to the wheel all seem to be straight down the middle. Doesnt seem "right" (whatever that is).

Thanks for the thoughts Dan.  It is a dead-center pic; maybe i should try shifting the plane to the left a bit, so that the prop is barely inside the left edge of the frame.  There's some retouching I'd like to do here as well.  The rope under the wing, obviously, but also I think I should delete the words on the cowling.  Prominent legible text can really distract attention from the composition.

delete "Tuskegee Airmen"? no i definitely wouldnt do that. IMHO that gives the plane a special uniqueness in the midst of the Mustang fleet.

Airplanes are inherently a horizontal subject but sometimes I like to see

what I can do with a vertical slice of one.

I agree with Dan, I definately would not clone out the distinctive markings of the Tuskegee!

This composition works o.k. for me too! But then again, I'm an aviation enthusiast too!

August,, many fine things here, but all are overshadowed (no pun intended ;-) by a tree line that runs directly through the propeller apex. Airplane is associated with moving , that is the point of the first contact with air; nothing should touch it on the photo in order for it to be visually pleasing. Easy correction: lower your POV just a little and you are OK. Just my $0.02

a lower POV would lose you separation with the prop and the leading edge of the wing though. Unless the owner was there to move the prop a few inches, i think id rather keep it the way it is.
