It is some scenes from the well known balett created by P.I . Tchaikovskyi, and performed the first time in Bolshoi  theatre in Moscow.

It is some scene seen in St. Petersburg. This is a well classical scene of that famouse  dance creation.

Back to Bournonville classical ballet of the Russian ballet tradition and also the tradition still being performed by the Royal Danish ballet company at the Royal Theatre in Copenhagen. Saint Petersburg and Moscow are of course the main cities to admire the tradition.

The second dancer from the left will be told to correct her head position and the first from the right her leg! Inhuman discipline is the rule of this ballet tradition - but beautiful to watch, it is.

I see that your visit in Saint Petersburg was cultural. Does your country have any ballet company like this?

Anders ;-))  it was fast and you have a good eye. I know you are  familiar with all the well known classic creations. I saw many of them through the years most of them outside or imported ( like Boris Eifman that perform a lot here) ....Yes there are classical dance in Israel but most of it are modern creations.I like both .I  have learned classical ballet when I was 12 years old...LOL , Well, dancer I'm not....but I love it.

Yes, it was  a cultural, historical, and photographic visit, all together....;-))

Sorry for writing the word Ballet with a mistake( balett) in all 3 of them. the 10 minutes edit/delete,  in a site that declare it is a learning one, is a real right that was taken from us. My apology.

What a wonderful series, Pnina!  You are always in the right place at the right time.  I wonder how many shots you had to take to get the ones posted in this folder.

P.S.: I hope you get rain soon!

Lannie, I have about 30 frames that I can upload to that file.....all of them are good . There are some that I did not  even PP becauss some similarity, or they are not good enough for my standarts...My experience with dance and movenent is very developed because I work with it for a long time.I will not upload all of them of course ,only those which are giving a clue for the dance. It was a 2 hours ballet show....Be ready...;-)) and thanks for your interest.

Pnina, we are ready :-) Admirable perspective, very good exposure and light. I wonder how could  you take such very good shots from your seat.

Thank you both.

Amal, as the time of our visit was the high tourist season ( white nights) ,tickets were arranged for us on a box on the 4th floor on the first row... Good luck for me, with the  70-200 mm lens and my long experience in the dance center here..... if it was in the hall , I could not have those results. Thanks for asking.

Adan, It was 2 hours show, I have sorted out the best and I have avout 30 "rasins" I will not add all of them of course, but here is another one for you.;-)) and the next ones too.

A very good photo of this well-known scene. You left a bit more space LHS, a good idea, perfect composition, and timing. Minor pose imperfections are not a fault of the photograper ;-)
