High Falls

LenMarriott

Another offering from the bottom of the old shoebox. Exposure unrecorded but probably in the neighborhood of 1\2 to 1 second @ f16. Best, LM.

Hi Len, a different take on long(ish) exposure and looks great. Too bad the sky wasn't a little more dramatic.

I haven't had a convenient opportunity to replicate the cross on Mount Royal but it's on my list (a long list...). One of these days!

Thanks for your thoughts.  This was taken just minutes after the sun set and the sky was rather bland.  I pared it back to the minimum, showing only as small a sliver as I thought I could get away with. I guess I could add a bit of colour with some Photoshop hanky panky but I'm not satisfied that would improve it very much.  I think I'll just suck it up & move on.  As for the water flow I'm convinced that it's best to err on the long side of the shutter speed than on the short side of it when photographing moving water.  At some point, going short, the water takes on a frozen or solid look to it. (not as appealing) Hold that thought on the Mount Royal Cross shot.  It really would be an interesting exercise to see what it looks like 50 years after the one I took.  (no pressure)  :-)  Best, LM.

nice picture but those wooden railings at the top right corner could have been cropped off.

Thanks for taking the time to express your quite valid criticism.  Cropping would work as could cloning.  I chose cloning here to maintain as much of the falls as possible.  OK, a down & dirty fix, but if I took my time I could do a better job.  Some need for imagination here. :-)  Best, LM.

Seems unanimous then,  the fence has to go.  Thanks again to Arup for being the first to identify this small but easily rectified drawback.  Don't be a stranger.  Best, LM.

More luck than design my friend.  But luck is good!  Thanks for your visit and your views.  Very much appreciated.  Best, LM.

Thanks for your validation and for taking the time to stroll through my folder to locate this one, an old favourite of mine.  Best, LM.
