Guest Guest Posted July 21, 2010 Alexander,Yulia is a stunningly beautiful girl. She has an Audrey Hepburn look about her -- that je ne sais quoi quality. You have focused well on her eyes. She has good eye contact with the camera (viewer). The catch lights work well. She has a subtle penetrating look that is really quite sensual. I love the soft lighting you have used. Her make-up and manicure is excellent. The way you have posed her hands is excellent, also -- very feminine, graceful and elegant. You do want to be careful of foreshortening, though. I don't think there is much of an effect on her hand. Using the hat is a nice touch. The toning works well with this image. The out of focus background on the left (her right) works very well. I certainly agree with Ehtasham that the foreground on the right (her left) is much too large an out of focus area to work. It draws the viewer's attention away from Yulia. You could just crop some of that area, anyway. You want to compositionally balance the left and right sides of the photograph. The compositional "rule" for this suggests that you position the tip of the subject's nose in the vertical center of the photograph. Another option would be to shoot this with a vertical format instead of horizontal.Watch your depth of field. Yulia's right hand is out of focus. I don't see a good reason to have any of her out of focus. An out of focus background is very nice and focuses attention on your subject. Parts of your subject out of focus will draw attention away from what is in focus. It is difficult to go wrong with having the entire subject in focus. Her hands are a little brighter than her face. It is generally best to keep the face the lightest area of the body. You do not want her face to compete with any other light areas in your photograph. Nice shot,Mark Link to comment
