Hello Gregory...your shot is technically correct (sharp with good detail) but lacks impact due to the fact that it looks like the classic "passport" photograph (the tight framing is mainly responsible for this result). There is no face expression, no emotion or mood display. Light seems to be harsh as well (shot taken during midday?), not giving form and depth to your portrait image. When taking animal portrait shots, try to capture moments that show a hint of the animals nature and character...this is the secret which leads to compelling wildlife shots! Regards, Teo
