So, is there a translation for "Tapsu" other than "Dog Who Obviously Thinks He's a Child" :-)... A good photograph, but you have to look at the entire folder to see his personality really shine.  A wonderful member of the family... Mike

Mike ! for kind commenting. You are right, Tapsu means in Finnish - Bear, and as a verb "Tapsuttaa" is "To paw in", fits very well to the general outlook and active nature of these dogs.  Nova Scotia Tolling retrievers are used in hunting and serve as guide / service dogs of various nature. They are agile, active, always ready to play and serve if they are brought up in the right manner. They require very logical training and lots of attention and activity both mental and motor. With their personal way they are keen to find solution to problems of various nature. They tend to be very sociable, and have a sensitive nature with a great sense of humor.

Tapsu is a family member - and is doing very well in his lifelong training. He is also interested in music, being Mr. Bluesman (www.wildmountain.dk)- mostly of calm nature. Time will show all his capabilities:) Playing flute is not going to be any of the major activities, but saxophone or xaphoon sound is more pleasing to his ears:). Indeed, one must glance through the whole folder in order to get grasp of his vast personality profile:).

Hannu...  Tapsu is my kind of "child", one that just wears a fur coat all the time.  I must have an affinity for the northern dogs.  Our smallest family member is a Schipperke, native to Belgium.  The North American standard is all black with no tail and, like Tapsu, she believes she has all rights and privileges of family (and she's correct)... :-).... I pass your appreciation on to Tapsu, who is like your family members (I know the Belgian race you are describing:)

true baby, but has also watch dog responsibility for his "crew" without the tendency of "overdoing" it. Br Hannu

This is a beautiful photo and an excellent capture. He reminds me of Fred's personality, and Rex's (our Golden Retriever who passed away) looks.

- Janice - I feel good that you are lucky to have found two friends like that - Fred and Jett (just had a look of the fine photos in your folders - have to visit there with time - I could not find any photo of Rex though ?)

-Jana – I never looked the photo before ”really” in that way – but you are right  there is something surreal – thank you- I have to develop that idea further:)

-Alberto - I am glad you like the photo - it is always good to hear from you- and doubly so, as you have a dog too in your family :)
