Millenium Park, 9 p.m. Sass Jorden hits the stage with an exhuberance

of energy that lasted for more than an hour. She most graciously

entertained for free with her very adept band. The 3 guitarists were

awesome as was the drummer. The crowd soon jumped to their feet

and danced in the grass, much to her delight. More memories, my

favorite songs of hers dated back to 1989 'ish. Make Me a Believer, I

Want To Be Free, Just Who Do You Think Your Are... to name a few.

She was one of our most popular Canadian Idol Judges and now is on

Tour introducing her new CD/DVD. I decided to go 'High Key' with this

shot....just seemed to suit it. (This is my second outdoor Concert. Still

in the learning process in this type of Photography.) comments

welcome, Gail

Hi Gail! I get to be first to tell you that this a great concert shot! You should be proud of this one. I wanted to rate higher but the powers that be wouldn't allow it. Sass looks good, slim and fit. I like her pose, very striking. She must be getting up there now, how old is she? I am always amazed at some of these performers who just keep on tickin and never seem to age. Best wishes from B.C.

I'll be the second to say it's a great shot Gail, I definitely second Linda's comments. The capture at the peak of the performance moment, the inclusion of the musician for interest and establishment and the processing to give the shot drama and a real feeling of the concert are all well seen well timed and well presented.

Really good image

My compliments,   Bill

Thanks so much for the compliment.  I find these shots so difficult, and I wanted so much to get 'something' out of all I took. Many times she looked right at me and I could tell she was truly enjoying herself and I think she even tried to 'afford'me some good 'moments'.  She did look good. She is, like us all, getting 'up there', but her maturity  is a 'compliment'.  With watching 'Idol', and knd of 'getting to know' her within the restrictions of television, I found her performance refreshing.

She was so relaxed and at ease, had fun with the audience, and seemed to be 'where she enjoys herself most'.  TRULY  IN  HER  ELEMENT. Thanks for being my 'first' commenter on this one. You've truly encourged me in my 'inexperience' in this area.  Most appreciatively, Gail

Many thanks Bill for you critique.  Good observations that help me understand 'how' and 'why' we take the shot.  I was not sure which one to work on first......this one somehow 'spoke' to me. Thankyou for your visit and support.  Truly encouraging, sincerely, Gail

Very impressive stage capture and so well timed, I like the sort of drama lighting here and the tones, wishing you all of the best my friend.

Thank you for dropping by Alberto.  Glad you liked this shot.  Encouraging for me as I don't find them the easiest to do.  Sincerely, Gail

Great capture, Gail.

Photographers know that concert photos are a darn deal...

Succeeded with success :)

About the vocal babe, she reminds me of Doro Pesch in your photo.

Great voice !

Never heard about her before but I youtubbed her and, as Slash is part of her band, this means something...

Axl Rose should be eating his fingernails :)

Kidding ...

Again, Great capture, Gail !

BTW: See "Slash" ?! :)

Thankyou for your interest in this image and all the information you sent.  Yes, Sass sure likes to rock.  I began listening to her about 22 years or so ago.  She was a favorite of my daughter also.  I went through some of my old 'vinyl' records yesterday just to have a listen while I was tidying up the house........ Funny, the years sure fly by.  Thanks again Florin and I will check out your link....I was watching videos, but not sure if I saw the same ones as you.  Your support is certainly appreciated.  Sincerely, Gail

Gail..... you never cease to amaze me..... yet another arrow to your quiver full.

What was that?..... your second concert outing? This is better than Rolling Stone quality.

Being in Oz, I don't know of the performer, but will download a few of the songs you mentioned for a listen.

The image is just....... vibrant. A superb and dynamic capture.

What do you have in store for my next visit?

Fond regards

Grayham

Well.............where do I start Graham??? You have overwhelmed me.  The only concerts I have taken photos at are my Son Jesse, who opended at the Golden Horshoe in Toronto/Nov08....many Canadian Groups, including Sass have springboarded from this Venue. There are a few shots in one of my folders here.

The second was Kalan Porter at Del Crary Park (adjacent to Milenium Park where Sass was). He was our Candian Idol a few years back. Have lots of photos of that shoot.  And Sass Jorden was the most recent.

Your very fine compliments are most encouraging; am working on a few more from her concert.   After this critique I sure hope I can 'deliver' to satisfy your expectations.  Whatever the results, I surely do appreciate your critique....'TONS of THANKS'.....Gail

Unique and interesting shot. It always hard to make interesting shot during concert. Your know-how make it outstanding. All what I can say -- EXCELLENT!

Also, I'm very appreciate on your time and comments on my recent, as well oldest work.

With all my best,

Grigoriy

It is my pleasure to waunder through your photos.  Your work is an inspiration, and it  is in the 'looking' that I learn and appreciate the 'skills' of others.  It is also my way to 'travel' for I will neve afford to visit the many places I can visit here on PN.  I'm quite humbled by your reaction to this shot, although it has veen received well.

I have a few more to work on, and as you say, concerts are not the easiest to take photos at.  I am very unexperienced and this was an outdoors concert.  Sass Jorden has been popular since the 80's and although I had never seen her in concert before, both my daughter and I 'rocked' and danced the night away to many of her songs on our 'girl's nights out'.  I feel very fortunate to have been able to get quite close to the stage.  The lighting was much to be desisred, and working with 'shadows' from neon lights is very difficult for me also, as it is so hard not to get a clear shot of the face.  I was using my 55-250mm and left the camera on Program mostly. I think I was very lucky to get this shot.

Thankyou so much for your appreciation of this photo....means more than you can know.  Most sincerely, Gail

Coming from you these words are a welcome sight!  I hope to keep on improving in this area. Not always the easiest for me to work on, but was pleased with the outcome with the knowledge I have so far, my thanks and kind regards, Gail
