I copied your photo and reopened it in Adobe Raw, assumed that the background behind the fox was actually neutral and clicked it with the color balance tool. There was a very small shift in color balance resulting in an overall warming.  Since I was not there I cannot judge whether that is correct or not but I felt that the overall image was slightly improved.

Thanks Jerry.  I'll try that.  Perhaps today I'll go back to that location and take a calibration shot for white balance.  The background is neutral.
