Gore Point Gathering Point

Seining for pink salmon in Valdez, Alaska. The deck hand and the skiff

man are plunging (with big cups on the end of long poles) to scare the

salmon and keep them from swimming around the boats to escape the

net. The plungers make very loud popping sounds when slammed into

the water.

Gary, this is a really interesting photo. The details are fantastic from the light reflecting onto the bow of the trawler to the snow lined mountains in the background. I'm an avid salmon fisherman and had never heard of "plunging" before. Anyway, a great documentary shot.
