Nice texture study. Tonal range compliments the image. More DoF is needed in the center of the 'web' of plant needle clusters. It puts an optical hole in the middle of the composition, and my eye moves randomly around the rest. Fix the DoF, hold in the middle, and it's an interesting image. Nice B&W conversion.

A very interesting capture!  The symmetry of the clusters mirrors the symmetry of the needles on each cluster.  I'm not sure I agree with the DoF comment.  The out-of-focus middle gives it a deep never ending quality as if the bursts were generated from an unknowable amorphous center.  Shoot it again with the lens stopped down and compare the images.  Probably just a matter of taste.  Cheers!
