Denis,

She is a beautiful girl. You have focused very well on her eyes. She has a lovely skin tone. Because she is looking up, it is appropriate to have the extra room above her. The highlights on her skirt are very good. They make the material shine. You have excellent lighting and catch lights. I love the ethereal light coming from the heavens. Your composition is excellent. The contrast and color saturation is very good.

Her make-up looks very good, but a little more eyeliner under her eyes would have make them stand out more. She has a very nice manicure. The specular highlights on her lips look very good.

Her pose is wonderful. I really like the way you have positioned her legs. It is a bit sensual, yet still ladylike. The way you have her pointing her right foot is very good -- like a dancer's foot position. Avoid having the back of the hand towards the camera. The edge (side) of the hand towards the camera is thinning, feminine and graceful. Cascading the fingers usually looks more graceful than posed together pointing straight out. I am somewhat undecided how I feel about cropping off her left knee.

I think it would be more effective if she was looking straight above her rather than to the side. If not making eye contact with the camera (viewer), the eyes should follow the line of the nose. It is natural to look where your head is pointing. If looking off to the side you should show what she is looking at or provide a reason that she is not looking where her head is pointing. You have done an excellent job of subtly darkening the image as you approach the bottom.

Be careful of split profiles. You do not want the tip of her nose to come close to touching the far cheek line. You want to make sure the far eye is either completely showing or not showing at all. You do not want to have the bridge of her nose cut into her far eye.

I would not have her wearing a red top. Avoid bright colors and bold patterns in clothing. In a portrait the subject’s face is what is most important and nothing should draw the viewer’s attention away from the face. The red top doesn't really fit her very well, anyway. If it is a dress, I would choose another outfit.

I like the colors you have in the soft background, but I am not sold on the repetition of her image. I think just a nice soft hazy blur would work better. What you have makes the viewer have to determine that your background is a repeating image of the girl and to try to figure out why you have done this. To me it is not conveying any message or feeling beyond it just being a background. You don't want to have your viewer work too hard without a very good reason.

Nice shot,

Mark

Mark, my friend, thank you very much !
Your comments are very helpful, I instantly learn something new from them !
Regarding this photo - it was an experimental portrait with mixed light technique so there are plenty of things to improve here :) So once again thank you very much for pointing out at some of them ! Do appreciate !
Regards,
Denis
