This evolved from Original shot used for "Carter 1999" and "B&W Carter" . It also morphed into Carter 1999. It's my most ambious PhotoShopping of a print to date.

Really good. I like his expression and it reminds me of all those Dutch portraits with the lacy collar and the goatee (but not the piercings.) The separation of the hair and goatee from the background isn't perfect, but it's reasonably well done.

I love the comment by M Hayward and have to agree with it entirely. Good detail and tone, composition and lighting. Interesting subject, but I don't like those ball-bearings!

Great shot and greatly improved in Photoshop. Are you still in doubt? I think you have what it takes to digitally make the best out of an already well chosen shot. No chemicals needed!

Great perspective and pose. You took the most advantage of his unique features. His gaze is penetrating. You've captured a great deal of character and personality in this shot.

This is art. The subject is interesting, and there is struggle within the composition between the directional orientation of the hair, beard, and neck jewelry drawing the viewers eye outward while those penetrating eyes draw the viewers eye back into the photo. All the while, the stark contract holds ones attention. I would like to see what this looked like before you cooked it in photoshop, because I'll guess the a side by side comparison would make your efforts appear even more impressive.

Another grabber image. Very well balanced both tonally and compositionally. I, too, toiled in the wet, darkroom for many years (and have now given it up) and look forward to the day when PS proficiency matches that of enlarger/chemistry. My only quibble with this image is that the eyewhites are just slightly too white. You obviously have a strong rapport with your subjects.
