GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted July 7, 2010 A beautiful 'perky' yet relaxed pose for Dad. I'm sure this is Jaslyn, but she takes on a whole new beauty with her change of hair color. A lovely portrait with great skin tones, great lighting, and a dazzling smile to win over us viewers. Congrats Alex.....another 'prize' to add to the Family Collection. Most Sincerely, Gail Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted July 7, 2010 Alec,Not only is she perky, but she is a cutie, too! She is a beautiful girl with a wonderful smile. You have focused very well on her eyes. She has good eye contact with the camera (viewer). Her skin tone is excellent. The lighting is very good. Her left hand is posed very nicely and she has a nice manicure. Her hand looks feminine and graceful. She has good catch lights. Her make-up is very good. The eyeliner under her eyes frames them very well and makes them stand out. The background is nicely neutral. Even though her dress is quite busy, the pastel colors do not draw attention away from her face.If she was farther from the background she wouldn't leave shadows on it.You shouldn't crop into her hair. Cropping into her hair implies a tight crop on the bottom.Do not pose your subject straight on to the camera. This is not a very feminine pose. Showing your subject’s widest areas (shoulder to shoulder or hip to hip) makes those areas appear wide. Your subject will appear thinner and more feminine, graceful and elegant if turned at an angle to the camera. The lines you see from an angle have more apparent motion, interest and grace. You usually do not want to have your subject turned 90 degrees to the camera. This can make the head look unsupported. It usually looks best to angle your subject somewhere around 45 degrees. You want to compositionally balance the left and right sides of the photograph. The compositional "rule" for this suggests that you position the tip of the subject's nose in the vertical center of the photograph.Nice shot,Mark Link to comment
