White Sands, NM

Nice composition of an endless sea of white waves.  The blowing sand makes a nice foreground edge.

Thanks for the encouraging comments! This was my first trip to White Sands, after wanting to go there for years. The wind made for fewer footprints, and interesting photographic effect - but also an ominous grinding sound in my lens...

Hey, Rachel, how are you?  I hope your summer is going well.  I love this shot of White Sands, not a plant in sight; so, you were right down in the heart of the monument.  I really like the almost monochrome look of this too.  Well seen and captured, and I hope the lens didn't suffer too badly.  Cheers!  Chris

in response to the latter part, this is indeed a real place, and the sand is white - it is a field of gypsum dunes in the (appropriately named) White Sands, New Mexico.  It's a phenomenal, and fairly popular, spot for photography in the southwestern US....there's something very surreal about the place.
