Thanks for your comment. First of all I cant see what exactly is wrong with "scale"? Nature is only as good as it gets , however if you can see more about it Iam happy to hear it and see what can be improved. And well done to you to see what I was tring to do here , YES the three bands are my POINT all the rest had only been the WAY ..some will see it as an LANDSCAPE I SAW the colors. When it comes to size of pics I always keep them around it as the Photo .net suggest around 100kbs and avarage monitor is set to 800x600 what at least to me makes some sens. Interesting is also this " the image requires some more sharpening, which takes definition away from it" - I personally find the image sharp enough and what more with good definition of colors and texture. Using USHARP MASKING so far in my case worked rather the other way around then you pointed out , and brings more definition to textures when used in right way. Rockes!!! as I mentioned seeing this picture is to see the colors however I agree with you and some cloning could be done to balance the picture, good point!.

The cloud , I find it existance less then important here but it could be much a personal taste. " If the slide looks as the scan, exposure compensation of about 2/3 down was spot on" -- just for your own interest there wasnt any compesation aplied , straight metering for 18% of grey, and that is all. Thanks for your comment again. All best Regards PK

Thank you for your time and explenation: With the detail level which you mantion cant be seen due to the scan size or rather display size I suggest you use LARGE option before seeing the photo. However this will make the photo larger you still make not be able to as much as originaly was captured on the transparency, but that is the way it is. I do agree with you that the larger size would help but I dont find it as importent from people to have a general idea of the photogrph. You may want to browse the photo net to see what kind of standards are around here. I used to have some veru large ( size wise ) photos herebut I dont think it worked some of my friends would have to scroll the screen to have a fulll view.

Coming back to te structure of the photo , as you noticed some elements are not really working for the IDEA of COLOR BAND ..on one hand that is what I dislike about it but there is still an element of getting some extra objects to balance the picture. About the exposure : ?? I suggest that you try use 2 controls of your monitor Brightnes and Contrast, possibly color temputure and GAMMA 1.8 ( MC ) and 2.2 ( OC) Your judgment of 1./2 stop under mid tones can easly change when your screen is calibrated ( not that I would neded it but seeing your other comments around photo.net and lack of own photographs I guess you may not tried to see how your well exposed slides will look on your screen !!!!!) Best Regards PK.

It's a very nice composition. I would wait a couple of minutes till this cloud breaks away from the mountain. The photo is sharp just right. I'm sure the original looks much better. I disagree that posting a larger image would help. Quite to the contrary, I think that a smaller image might look better if saved with a lower compression. All this discussion about sharpness/details would not take place if this image would not have been messed up by a high jpg compression. Because the mountain has so many details a larger photo, without those artifacts, would take at least 1M HD space on photo.net server, which would have been somewhat abusive. That's why posting a smaller, less compressed photo would be a more optimal choice, I think.
