Wow, do you get around!  It sounds like you have a very interesting life...and all that travel!  I am envious!  I looked a bit through your portfolio--Spain, Italy--and most of what I see (like the image above) looks like basic travel documentary-type shots with little, if any post-processing.  I am guessing you are shooting JPEG?  What you might try sometime, is slowing down and taking your time looking for unusual light, texture, patterns or juxtapositions.  Then let loose the artist inside you and try to come up with something noone else would see.  Experiment with composition.  Look for strange or unusual camera angles or perspectives.  Then, maybe try shooting in RAW and working on your post-processing skills.  A more experienced photog once told me that 80% of her images were done right on the spot as she snapped the shutter, but that a very important 20% of the image came out in the post-processing stage.  I say all this because that is kind of the stage I am in right now--just beyond beginner, maybe moving to intermediate.  Rather than do photo-documentary of my travels, I try to find unusual angles or views so my photos are a bit more interesting than those of the tourist who is also shooting right next to me.  And I am working hard to learn the ins and outs of PhotoShop.  What a great life you have going...have fun!

Hi,

´thank you for your comment.

Yes, I am only doing autocolours in postprocessing. I don't have photoshop, so use fireworks (from former Macromedia, for which I was betatester so got a licence).

I am fine with documentary photography, I even wrote an essay about that and got a grant with the essay - it was about documenting disasters. I think I am better in writing than in taking photographs ... But most of the time I need the photos to put in articles of mine, there documentary photography does its job.

I think that's great, what you do.  I appreciate the explanation.  Each photographer has a perspective that is unique to him/her...and I suppose when we give out "helpful" advice it usually based on our personal point of view.  Sounds like you are having success at what you do and it seems to be your passion, so I say "go for it"!
