LenMarriott 9 Posted July 14, 2010 Thanks for your kind praise. Your shot with the wasp demonstrates the variation possible with common subject matter. And you must have had a very small bloom or a huge wasp in that one. Don't know if I'd be brave enough to get that close in case I'd make him angry. Best, LM. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted July 14, 2010 Nice to hear from you again. Thanks for taking the time to view and to comment on this one. Best, LM. Link to comment
Pierre Dumas 266 Posted July 14, 2010 The wasp wasn't there at all when I took the picture of the flower! I put it there later, when I finished the adjusting of the flower's background! It took me a lot of work for both (selecting the wasp and cleaning the flower picture) but it wasn't painful at all, only hard work, ha! I'm honored by your interest in my work!PDE Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted July 17, 2010 Credit goes to Mother Nature for the bloom and raindrops. Canon A540 P&S should get some thanks also. I'll take credit for deciding to record it, and the heat if anything should be discovered to be amiss. Best, LM. Link to comment
arnav 7 Posted July 19, 2010 Love the DOF. As Pierre says the water drops brings out the DOF even more. If you see it on a 30" display this looks as though it is popping out even though it is less than 1500 x whatever. You should sell this to the Apple guys.CheersArnav Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted July 19, 2010 Arnav, Thanks for the vote of confidence. I'll be going around with a big head for the rest of the day now. The shallow DOF does, as I hoped it would, accentuate the sharpness of the bloom by softening the background. I took it at the equivalent of 111mm @ f5 (wide open at that length) and allowed the focus to zero in on the drop covered petals. As for the Apple guys, let them steal it off the web like everyone else does. :-) Best, LM. Link to comment
