I get the PNet DTs when I haven't posted for an extended period. My subscription is expiring and I am wondering if renewing is worthwhile, so post I must. Even if I don't have new stuff, dredging up something from the cast aside archives is my only recourse today. I will admit the starburst is a bit intense, but it may be adding some drama to an otherwise static landscape. This one is looking out toward Lake Tahoe just above Emerald Bay. This is the land between the lakes with Cascade Lake to the right. The drive along here is memorable because the road seems to drop off on both sides; it's easier to be the driver than the passenger. To get to this location required a scramble up a rocky slope, which in turn resulted in a turned ankle. We still had 5 days remaining on our vacation, so I hobbled for the remainder. Problem was, we were staying in a ski condo that required climbing 63 stairs one way; no elevator. And of course, much of the time I was carrying our 3 month old son in a car seat carrier. What doesn't kill ya only makes you stronger!

A perplexing question perhaps. When exactly does dawn become day? I think this was

taken close to that moment. Thanks for your comments and please view this Large!

Thanks AJ, Bob, Pierre, Ernest and Dave! Dave, I would be inclined to relinquish my portfolio only because I doubt it's usefulness for me. I also question my productivity from time to time and I don't see anything apparently positive from this. Meanwhile, I do enjoy sharing postings and looking in on fellow posters. Most likely I will continue, being it's only $25. Thanks for the encouragement!

Mark...  NO WAY!!  Are you to be allowed to leave PN!  We will all hound you unmercifully if we don't see you continue; I mean, just because you're getting too old to climb rock without hurting yourself is no excuse ;-)...  Seriously, it would be a shame to lose your inspirational images and your unselfish willingness to share your techniques and talent.  Hang in there and we'll be happy with visits when you can.  We have to have your work to offset the current trend of over saturated graphic arts that is masquerading as photography.... Mike

Oh yeah, great b/w tones and detail in this one.  As you noted, the sunburst does garner a lot of attention, but doesn't dominate the beautiful scene.

Thanks Mike and Ed! No worries Mike, I'm gonna stick it out another year. I was just thinking though. PNet should sell another subscription at $40 that guarantees no anon 3/3s. That would really make this ship fly!

Hey Mark - Glad to hear you will stick around.  Your blends are masterful and really help me in the processing department.  Take this image- how you retained detail in the mid trees with the flare and sun coming at you is beyond me.  Well controlled, as usual.

Look forward to more of your images, however frequent you choose to post.  Always a pleasure!

Regards, Harry
