alfbailey 2 Posted June 23, 2010 After taking a lot of sunset shots that I thought were okish, I took this one, this was the last shot of the evening 10.23pm as I walked back to the car. Your thoughts and comments are always appreciated. Thank You. Link to comment

kathyb 34 Posted June 24, 2010 At first glance I thought it was a herd of sheep but I guess it's terrain? What are the white things in the foreground? The lighting is superb! Link to comment
papasan 0 Posted June 24, 2010 Nice work Alf, i really like the rich saturated hues in this shot. The ripples provide a nice pattern leading the eye through the photo until it reaches the lone lighthouse, which is perfectly located in the center of the burning sky. Your perspective is excellent but i wonder how it would look had the lighthouse been slightly more to the left. Regards - michel Link to comment
thadley 15 Posted June 25, 2010 Much has already been said and I am in concurrence with the fact that this is a superb image. That ripple pattern, the brilliant sky and the light house produces a synthesis that is very pleasing to the eye. I had no idea who or what was Talacre but now I know that it is in Flintshire on the North Wales coast. My web surfing also indicates that there have been numerous ghostly sightings associated with this lighthouse - one where a figure appears and is dressed in old fashioned lighthouse attire. Perhaps a digital alteration is called for including some mist and an apparition holding a lantern in a hunched position. Now back to the image: I realize that this was the last shot of the 'day' and it is a very fine image indeed. I would have gone for a 2nd image without moving and would have gone portrait mode. Following Michel's advice, 'moving' the lighthouse slightly to the left in this 2nd one. I have read an article from a professional photographer where he always includes a vertical when working a scene simply because most magazine covers go with the portrait mode image.Best regards and thanks for stopping by one of my recent images. karolostrivizas 1 Posted June 25, 2010 As in your previous image Alf, the great depth is IMHO the main characteristic also in this one.But the well written texture of the f/g and the amazing rich sunset tones of the glorious sky are the credits of this impressive sunset. My congrats for the precise exposure and the light treatment. elportebonheur 0 Posted June 25, 2010 Good afternoon Alf, guess everything is said above including the nitty-gritties. Don't want to be repetitive, though. I like this one integrally, tried to enlarge to see if you might have overlooked the ghostly lighthouse keeper walking around the tower...or some strange figures on the beach... Compliments Alf, worthwhile to stay that long - and generally, the last shot is always the best. Good w-e. Link to comment
jmarcraveau 0 Posted June 25, 2010 What to say more? I like the pattern of the sand and of course the dramatic sky with these nice colors. Great DOF too. A very nice image. Regards, Jean-Marc Link to comment

Many thanks for your feedback, much appreciated!Kind RegardsAlfDL ( Dave) Many Thanks for your visit and kind comments, you have raised a vital point there, and I'm in total agreement. I think some of the very best light and colour is when the sun has actually dipped below the horizon and for some considerble time afterwards too.RegardsAlfRUUDThanks for stopping by Ruud, I appreciate your kind words!RegardsAlfARTUROThank you for stopping by, your kind words are appreciated!RegardsAlfKATHY No sheep here, unless sean followed me : - )The foreground is sand and the "white things" are sea shells. Thanks for looking in Kathy, much appreciated !RegardsAlfMICHELI always look forward to reading your feedback, as you always have some good idea's and positive ways of improvement. You have a good point about moving the lighthouse slightly to the left, and I did consider it when I was processing the image, I could have achieved this by cropping the image slightly, but after some consideration decided to leave it alone as I didn't want to lose any of the lfar eft hand side foreground detail. Sincere thanks for your thoughts and comments Michel, much appreciated!RegardsAlfTONY Sincere thanks for your visit and your valuable imput. Digital alterations with mist and ghostly figures are a great idea, but sadly I lack the knowledge required to produce such work.I think your point about taking a portrait shot as well as a landscape one is a very valid one, and one that in all honesty, I haven't thought about consciously until now. However when I checked my file for that evening I was delighted to find I had done just that, I will post the portrait version at some point in the near future in order that a comparison can be made and hopefully you will be kind enough to let me know your thoughts when I do so. It is definately a great tip worth keeping in mid for the future. Thanks again Tony!Kind RegardsAlfADRIENNEMany thanks for your visit and kind words, much appreciated!Kind RegardsAlfKARALOSSincere thanks for your observations and encouraging feedback, it is always good and useful to know what aspects of an image are appealing and I do appreciate you letting me know your thoughts.Kind RegardsAlfELThank you for stopping by, I really appreciate your thoughts and comments. I do believe I was the only strange looking ghostly figure on the beach that evening, but you have just given me an idea Hmmmm well I won't divulge what it is exactly but it involves me, my camera, a hooded cloak (if I can find one) and a scythe (or a bit of shaped cardboard that looks like a scythe) Oh and yes, I agree the last shot is quite often the best. Thanks again ELKind RegardsAlfJEAN-MARCMany thanks for looking in and for your kind comments, much appreciatedRegardsAlfJOHNGood to hear from you, and glad to see you posting more images, I really enjoyed the latest "Artist" onesTalacre is favourite location of mine, I just wish someone would straighten that lighthouse though : - )Thanks for your comments and for stopping by John!Kind RegardsAlf Link to comment

tibig 0 Posted June 26, 2010 I like a lot the rhythm of the terrain and the way it is broken by the white whatever (garbage? even if yes, it plays an important role in the composition).A really interesting sunset, quite hard to do as there are so many boring ones. Best Regards, Tibi Link to comment
alfbailey 2 Posted June 27, 2010 ALBERTOMany thanks, I am so pleased you like it, much appreciated!RegardsAlfTIBISincere thanks for stopping by, I am pleased you like this one. The small white objects are small sea shells, I know what you mean though about sunsets, it's difficult to be interesting or original when the subjects been covered so many times, so your words are much appreciated!RegardsAlf Link to comment
