Maria,

  You have too much bright sky in this one.  If you don't use a ND filter try darkening the sky.  Point two since there doesn't seem to be a lot of interest in the sky I'd crop out most of it.  You have the horizon going pretty much through the dead center, it works better using the 'rule of thirds'

I agree with Douglas.  Another alternative is try to restore the shadows and highlights through post-editing.  Great scene regardless.  Wish I were there.
