Jeff Lear 0 Posted September 16, 2010 I'm sometimes hesitant to offer my opinions on a photograph that has little chance of being retaken (i.e. wedding, vacation, spur-of-the-moment type things) but I'll give this one a go in case you find yourself in a similar situation. Your photograph really conveys the majesty of this place and the power of the waterfall. It's often difficult to offer the viewer a sense of steepness or height with a single photograph but I really feel like I'm perched on the edge here because you kept some references in the frame that helps the viewer understand. A couple of suggestions for the next time you find yourself in this situation... Rainbows are pure polarized light so a circular polarizer can work wonders to increase or decrease their intensity and add contrast to a scene. Unfortunately, the waterfall is badly over-exposed, your histogram would have indicated this, for sure. I would have used a tripod and exposure bracket for this in anticipation of using more than one frame to create the image due to the dynamic range. Lastly, I would definitely crop the image on the right and bottom to get rid of the protruding metal thing, tree, and leaf at the upper right corner. Link to comment
