'The Interloper' carries a genuine leaf, just picked, on his bare chest as

he walks in a busy area of downtown Kyiv, Ukraine. This photo is

submitted as 'street' but might well fit under 'fine art'. Your ratings and

critiques are invited and most welcome. If you rate harshly or very

critically, please submit a helpful and constructive comment; please

share your photographic knowledge to help improve my photography.

Thanks. Enjoy. John

This photo is not for everybody.

If you saw it in a gallery or museum, you'd probably say, 'oh, yeah, it is

'fine art' but on 'photo.net' where so much middling art (including mine) abounds, it's hard to separate the wheat from the chaff, and hard from the serious from the neophytes to know what is serious and what is not in terms of 'art'.

Perhaps I'm wrong, though, just blinded by Hubris?

Anything's possible, and I can be myopic with regard to my own work.

And unlike 'street' 'fine art' may be the catchall where anything that doesn't fit into another category belongs rather than the other way around.

;~)

After reading your comment, I took a tour through your bio (very nice), through your photos (very wonderful), through the comments of others (you photography justifiably is held in high esteem), then the photos you had rated of others -- your 'highest rated gallery' and was not only surprised to find a number of my works there, but this a 7/7 among only a handful at the very start.  (I don't look at rates until after finished replying to comments generally.)

Wow!

Who would even expect any decent rate from someone with such taste for a 1/100th sec. grab shot, even if the photo was taken knowingly AND instinctively and posted because . . . well to my mind it was 'good' but who the hell else would feel the same about this shot?

What a surprise.

This is one way to find a small community of people with similar aesthetics -- and I'm happy this way I've stumbled across you and your estimable body of work.

Just your highest-rated gallery of others' works is worthy of mention, let alone your own wonderful photos, so lovingly shot and processed.

I don't give thanks for rates, but do give thanks for the attention and time it takes to rate and give a comment -- that has real meaning for me, and I'm glad this photo struck a cognitive note with you as it did with me.

Salut.
