karolostrivizas 1 Posted June 18, 2010 Amazing DOF and crisp details Linda. The well written lines of the petals, and the velvet like texture of the leaves are IMHO the main credits of this excellent close up capture. Link to comment

sonneland 0 Posted June 19, 2010 Linda, for a first shot with new camera you must be pretty pleased. This image to me could really suit a sq format, my reasons are there is not so much interest off to the left of flower and if you were to also eliminate flower at top right and just concentrate on focal part of flower and leafs your whole image would be better balanced. this is of course just my opinion. Guest Guest Posted June 22, 2010 I like the lushness of this, the contrast of the flower with the greens, and the drops which I see as somewhat melancholy. I agree with Roger that something about the framing feels a little off, the cropped flower in the upper corner, etc. I wonder about a little more layering in terms of depth. It seems the foreground functions as one unit as does the background. If there were more sense of depth within the foreground flower and leaves, and a little more sense of a variety of planes in the background, I think my eye would want to wander around and speculate a little more. The lighting, both in the foreground and background, is very static and even. That combined with the consistency of the green color throughout seems to de-energize the photo and the flower itself. ldavidson 4 Posted June 25, 2010 Thank you everyone for commenting.Fred, I see what you mean about the two seperate pieces in the image, how it needs more sense of depth. Thank you so much for that advice. It's good to hear from you.Best wishes,Linda Link to comment
Emmanuel Enyinwa 0 Posted June 27, 2010 The picture inspired me more in b/w. Hope you don't mind. Link to comment
ldavidson 4 Posted June 29, 2010 Thank you! No, I don't mind at all. I think it looks great. It takes on a different feeling. I always think that flowers, vegitation must be in colour, so now I am going to have to experiment. Best wishes, Linda Link to comment
williammccarey 0 Posted July 7, 2010 Great image. Excellent handling of the whites. Good focus, nice background. Very serene photo. I would have cropped the left side back to the leaf in the foreground and I would have cropped the flower in the upper right corner as it draws the eye away from the central image. But then none of my shots is as good as yours! Link to comment
