michelle_osborn1 0 Posted November 12, 2002 and so sharp. Nice catch lights in the eyes and the tones and detail of the basket are catching but do not take away from the baby. Link to comment
kezia 0 Posted November 13, 2002 Lovely spontaneous expression, simple props that don't overwhelm the baby. I just love your children's portraits. Congratulations. Link to comment

rick vincent 1 Posted November 19, 2002 I intended this photo shoot to be of his twin sister, but she wouldn't stay still...She kept crawling towards the camera...As soon as I put down the blanket, he found it interesting, and so he became the subject of my photos. Natural window light here, with no extra studio lighting. The basket...just a basket of toys that the babies play with. I threw on the hat which he didn't seem to mind. Little sister kept taking off the hat....It just wasn't her day, and so now, brother gets all the attention. I appreciate your thoughts and comments. Link to comment
ereza 0 Posted November 19, 2002 Great photo and lighting, did you do any PhotoShop manipulation? i'm asking since i'm trying to undertand the lighting better, what was behind the baby, a black fabric or wall? Link to comment

rick vincent 1 Posted November 20, 2002 The backdrop is a velvety black blanket that I uses for many of my portraits. It is draped over a couch. Justin here is sitting on the floor. The light source is from a large picture window that is about 10 feet from him. (and other ambient light sources from other windows throughout the house). I used photoshop to burn in and/or spot out highlights and lint that showed up on the blanket. I usually apply a very light unsharp mask on many of my photos just to give them a little extra punch. I also use photoshop to tweak the highlight and shadow levels to give the image a stronger range of contrast when it seems helpful. Link to comment
