It is a group of very young Israeli/Ethiopian school dancers ,that my women Org.(   Soroptimist International  Org.) helps developing , in order and  means to preserve their cultural /community dances, and do as well  some more modern ones.

Thanks for viewing

Beautiful faces, arranged in a classic, yet dynamic way, reminiscent of painting.  Strong girls becoming strong women.

Pnina;

A nice group portrait. I like the way in which the girl with crossed arms engages the camera in a direct and self assured manner.

It's a lovely ensemble picture, direct and without any hidden agenda. The trio in the center are especially well presented, timeless in their friendship. Someday they will look back at this photo and the memories will come rushing back. That's one of the enduring values of a good photograph.

Donna, Thanks. I have a warm spot for  that wonderful community and their culture.

Jeff, I have  met them for a short time in our Org. Weekend (annual meeting). They danced and were so charming,

El, Bob, Rashed , and Linda, thanks for your nice feedback

Amal, this is a small part of my Org.  Actions, but I see it as an important one.

Gord, you are right about the one with the crossed hand, but all of them were heart warming. It was a simple natural pose, which I liked so much.

Juan Carlos, thanks for your visit and comment, very much appreciated.

Jack, as usual, your writing is eloquent, and I'm glad to see you back !;-))

"The Magnificent Seven"!  None seem shy or easily intimidated.  I agree with JeffS L's assessment.  In fact, it's hard to find any comment here that doesn't have some validity.  From the left, the second and third girls in the back row seem to have a particularly close bond.  A fine group photo indeed.  Best, LM.

Hi Pnina, Just adding here to what most comments above already referred to: That this is a really fine group photo with lovely color tones... Very relaxed, and unassumed. & I think as well that these girls will very much appreciate your capture of them, years from now ;-) Warm regards to you, Marjolein

Vadim, thanks for your feedback.

Len thanks. It is a small group that looks very much devoted to the opportunity to show their cultural skills and modern as well. What I liked is their natural pose when I photographed them

Marjolein, thanks, they have performed in the north of the country, where they live and practice. As my women Org.has helped to create the group and still does financialy , it was so good to see the result .

What I like here is the subtle range of expressions, from serious ("I'm being photographed.") to to the little smile on the second-from-right. The identical dress unites them as a group and lends continuity to the color.

I love the golden tones, the beautiful colors. And of course, the models are each lovely in their own right with a variety of interesting expressions. Soroptomists is a wonderful organization, my wife is very involved in our local Ventura County chapter.

A wonderful portrait of these beautiful young ladies.  It's interesting.....they seem willing and pleased to be getting their pictures taken.....yet they seem to feel quite comfortable as they are, not feeling the need to plaster a fake smile on their faces for the camera.  They're very natural looking, and a couple of them almost have a curious look on their faces.  Beautiful tones as well!

Thanks for your observation, which is very accurate. Let me explain. I was doing a photographic research about the Ethiopian /Jewish cultures. On my way all over places they live( in our country) ,I have learned a lot of the culture in general.

Children in Ethiopia have  a very strong respect to grown ups, and authoritative people ( including their own parents). When a parent is talking to its own child , the child is expected to look down and not at the talking  parent directly...So they are now a group of dancers, and have a bit more publicity, and probably adopted a bit of western ways, but I think that they still are wondering at the ways outside their own homes and strangers attentions. They were very reserved on facing the camera and even looking at me, while taking their photos (still a change in their behavior for sure)...

I hope  it answers your impression.;-))

A moment  captured in time. For a brief second, they are still, their bodies waiting to break out, back to the dance. The child in the front left, quizically looking at the camera, the one on the right, impatiently waitng to get back to the important things. The others pose because they should.

As time goes on, and the girls mature into women, this image will become more precious. I know, I have these portraits. Enjoy every minute, Pnina. And be sure to write down each name.
