myattphotoandfotoart39 1 Posted June 13, 2010 Between June 1949 and September 1950 virtually all of the Yemenite Jewish population (over 50,000) was transported to Israel on "Operation Magic Carpet". Today most Yemenite Jews live in Israel. Only about 300 remain in Yemen living a precarious existence among Islamic extremists (from Wikipedia) Link to comment

Donna Stavis 0 Posted June 14, 2010 Very different than a usual portrait, I guess because it's more of a street shot. He has such a presence. And there are hard times written on his face , dress, walking stick. Yet he carries his customs and maintains his religion. This is an emotionally moving shot. BTW, I think the woman is Ofra Haza Link to comment
tibig 0 Posted June 15, 2010 Very expressive portrait. The pose is exquisite as it tells of the weariness of a journey. The expression on his face reminds of the portraits by Rembrandt...Regards, Tibi Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted June 20, 2010 I have too long been away from your amazing work. I see your little gems continue to be submitted, and I am happy for that. This is a fine photo. The man looks to me like he does not trust the photographer too much. But that only adds. Take care. Link to comment
