For My Son on His Birthday (my apologies, this is resubmitted, in my

Yes another one has come round my Son.  Although you are not that wee small boy who cuddled on the couch at night b4 bed, you remain that toddler in my heart and eyes, whenever I most need to 'see' that wee boy.  If Love could be measured, no measurement exists when it comes to you.  I know I may not be able to see you today, but through PN perhaps you will see this image.  Your love of the earth, flowers, and working with your hands are a few of the inherit things we share; coneflowers being among your favorites, I chose to share this one with you.

A few thoughts on your Special Day:

  • Never judge yourself too harshley, for you will always be your toughest critic.  Absorb whatever you can deem good from what you see, or are told by others, and then just toss out the rest. Take it from me....I wasted too much time worrying about what others thought of me, then burdened myself needlessly.  Life is just too 'dam short'. If you miss a lesson or two along the way, believe me, there is always another day.
  • There will always be those who will judge you unfairly; their wisdom is of no consequence, for in the long run, they will never be the ones who 'step up' and be your 'wisest teachers'.
  • There will always be days among the good ones, when it seems  the 'WEIGHT of the WORLD' rests upon your already exhausted shoulders.  ALWAYS remember, that during those times, moments of 'sheer JOY' unsuspectedly will appear.
  • Bright days, dark days, and just 'everydays', don't ever think you will escape those when 'raindrops' stream down your 'windows'. None of us escape LIFE.
  • Always be aware that if it weren't for the 'toughest times' the LESSONS IN LIFE that STAY WITH YOU ALWAYS - would never occur
  • I may have insisted that 'you find your own way', but if it hadn't been for that, you would never have found the 'man within', or have experienced 'pride' borne of your own accomplishments.
  • You know I am only a phone call or short drive away. It's a 24hr. deal, but I'm your Mom. I choose to have 'no choice'.
  • There is not a day that goes by when I do not feel your face upon my cheek, hear those tiny footsteps 'teetering' upon the floors, or the feel the joy of that huge bear hug when you envelope me in your arms, and make me feel I can 'fly' !
  • And if any day this summer gets just too hot or too frustrating, remember the DECK IS LARGE;  the TUNES are waiting;  we can  TOSS BACK A FEW COLD ONES, and reminisce about our very own 'Book Of Days'.
  • Loving you always, good and bad, best and better.... and even more better'er  !!   XOXO  'Mummy'  !!

Many thanks for your visit and taking the time to comment on this shot. Because the blossom was just in it's early stages, I decided to try the layering of another and it seemed to work out not too badly.  My appreciation for your kind words of critique. Sincerely, Gail

You are far too kind, for I've still a lot to learn about life.  But my son is a sincere young man, who only goes so long and I receive a phonecall...."HELLO   MOMMY !!!"...........and I know he's missing the sense of his 'family'.  I feel it is indeed a gift to know there are those who love you.  I know myself, even as of the last few years, it always made me feel so good to stay over and visi my parents  for a few days.  I somehow always feel so safe and on a 'mental health break' under their roof.  'Mind vacations' so important....but I'm ready to truly go for a REAL VACATION !!!

Thankyou for your encouragement and for sharing yourthoughts, and I especialy enjoyed finding your Portfolio! Your great lakes shots are so beautiful.  I've never seen any beach shots along Lake Ontario as beautiful as yours.  There is an area near Bellevill Ontario called the Bay of Quinte....The Sandbanks Provincial Park.  Lovely spot where as children we would take a piece of cardboard and slide down the dunes as if they were snow.  There is a hotel that is suppossed to be buried there also.  Unfortunately you are not allowed to traverse the dunes anymore, said to be too dangerous.  You have lovely beach shots....so different for fresh water lakes. Talk soon, Gail
