A photo of my girlfriend in the garden. Never done portraits before so any comments

and criticisms would really be appreciated. It was really sunny so I used some white

card under her face and pointed the flash down at the card, I think it worked and I'm

really pleased with it :) (so was she! haha)

I think you have shot it well if she likes it...personally I would like to see both eyes but clearly you guys wanted to shoot it this way. Good colours and nicely blurred background due to the lens choice of yours.

I think the shot works really well. Good choice of DOF, well composed and focussed and some background interest to give it context without it being too distracting. A square crop seems to work too (from just above the bottom of the shot upwards) and maybe strengthens the comp even further but it's just an alternative - there's certainly nothing wrong with the shot as it stands.
