marcelosoriarodriguez 0 Posted November 9, 2002 Very nice image; the tobacco filter adds to the impression that it is "the end"... I just think that maybe the border of the filter effect could be more horizontal... but I am not too sure about that (it's just that it somehow distracts me, that filter line). But I like the idea and the composition also. Regards Link to comment
marielou_dhumez 1 Posted November 10, 2002 Dramatic! Gives a mood of "end of the world"....! Link to comment
miles_hecker 0 Posted November 11, 2002 The composition is good here, but IMO the course heavy handed and obvious use of the Tobacco split ND does not make for a quality photo. The top and bottom of this shot have vastly different color ranges and the dividing line is quite obvious. Link to comment
derek_d1 0 Posted November 11, 2002 Really nice shot, but I think I'd like it better if the effect of the filter were a little less obvious. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted November 11, 2002 I really like the impact of the filter on the shot. The reddish-brownish tint to the sky does a great job of conveying the sense of the end. Great work. Link to comment
studio5nine 0 Posted November 13, 2002 This photo is eye catching because of the filter. It draws your eye to the top and finishes with the sunken boat. Beautiful. Link to comment
mg 0 Posted November 13, 2002 I really like the subject here. Besides that, I feel there is a bit to much contrast between the foreground and the background. The usage of tobacco filters is quite difficult IF one wants to keep things natural within the frame. Sometimes it could be used with a ND gradual grey filter on the other side (here on the foreground). I feel that's somehow missing here - at least to my personal view. Best regards. Link to comment
julien_andrzejczak 0 Posted November 13, 2002 Splendid athmosphere, like very well the composition and effect the filter gave !Pozdraw,Julien Link to comment
christian deichert 1 Posted November 13, 2002 Good composition. I see from the above that there is a considerable split in the filter camp. I do not think this is a good use of the tobacco grad; it looks like the filter slipped down accidentally. Very haphazard and very distracting. It might have added to the photo if it matched the horizon, but as I see it, the current filter placement only takes away from the shot. Link to comment
stefan_vapaa 0 Posted November 14, 2002 I really really like the subject. A new twist on the typical rowboat shot! I am not so sure about the filter. It seems to me to be a bit heavyhanded. It's just too obvious to me. If it were more subtle... I'd be sold all the way. -STEFAN Link to comment
havanai 0 Posted November 18, 2002 The commment has been made by several people before me, but this filter has been poorly applied here. I think it is too low. Don't you want to darken the sky, but not the water? But the biggest problem is the brown color. The cool blue/green tones of the submerged boat and the water are very appealing. To darken the sky, to maintain detail in the top and bottom halves of the image, I think you would have been better served by a neutral density (gray) graduated filter. Link to comment
awilson 0 Posted November 20, 2002 I'm not sure if I like the graduated filter so much, but the sunken boat is beautiful. Link to comment
mark_vaughn 0 Posted March 18, 2003 Yes! I hope this is the last artsy photo of a boat I have to look at. Thank you for sinking it. Great color here! Link to comment
isaacsantaella 0 Posted September 3, 2003 I don´t like the filter, but the quality and texture of the water are excellent. Link to comment
seven 0 Posted September 26, 2003 Great eye but the photo is only potentially great, as others observe. I am surprised they have taken issue with the graduated filter alone. Its use was called for due to the contrasting bg and fg; it might have been better used, already mentioned. Why a zoom? The curved horizon is one result (that's not so important) but look at that soft water - it feels lazy and tired. Surely a faster prime lens would have been a better choice? This is the end of my commentating Piotr. I hope you will understand that I am really just thinking aloud - I admire your artistic eye and work, I seldom spend as much time in any one portfolio as I have in yours. I hope I don't sound too negative (?) because I certainly feel inspired and very upbeat after seeing the world through your eyes. Link to comment
koval 0 Posted September 26, 2003 The aswer to this one will be not very sifisticated. Zoom ? Well ..you see when I got my first camera , Eos 300 I started to enjoy photography ..that was about 2-3 years ago ..then I got Eos 50 with that lens ..This shot was not taken by someone who knows what technically can be achived by someone who was curios what happend when filter is stack in the front of the lens ....That I guess is everone begining. I even did not check is the filetr is aligned with the horizon line :)) hehhe .. I still like to come back to my old images .I know I have lernt since then ..and changed from button presses to observer ...the next step is photographer .. I guess. :)) ..BTW : your coments are not offending me ..not at all ..I would be offended is someone started to make up strange things about this image and say it is perfect : ))) Thanks PK //BTW : what made you going thru my portfolio .. ? ?
