Excellent portrait. His gaze is strong and direct. The low key lighting is perfect for a man who spends far too many of his hours deep in the bowels of the earth.  You've really captured the man.

This is really awesome son. Not just the picture itself but you can really see the "through the eyes of a coal miner" expression. Nice job!

Brilliant sharpness and textures, the uncompromising stare is of a man that has seen life and hardship. I have a great deal of empathy with this character because many years ago I was a coal miner, however this is one of the best protraits I have ever seen! both from an aesthetic sense and a technical one (not that I claim to be a great expert in portraits) Suffice to say, I like it!

Kind Regards

Alf

Really really a great work! I like all of this image, the b/w processing is superb.

Best regards.

Stefano.

The texture is so vivid it looks like an HDR-processed image, and there are some halos around the rim of man's hat, a common HDR artifact. Now, don't get me wrong: I'm checking because I really do like the effect and would like to be able to produce it myself, perhaps sans the halo side-effect for portraits ;)
