Like a prism, the clear desert light filters off the walls of stone

and reflects into the canyon with a million different colors. A place

one must truly see to believe, and understand to capture.

Antelope Canion is a magical place where time has a bit different dimmension, especially Lower one which is not as busy as Upper and one can spend there as much time as you need. Afternoon when shadows plays and variety of diffrent colors, shades appear makes this place very special. Nicely done Marc.

Again, thanks for the comments but my slot canyon images are not from Antelope!  There are better slots out there than Antelope but most of them are difficult to get to, hard to find, technical to descend or legally off-limits.  This, as with all my slot work, is at least one of the above.  In fact, there are dozens if not hundreds of amazing slots out there I've rarely if ever seen photos of in both Utah and Arizona.

The color palette is  visually very "attractive", the tonal range that we can see is wide, fantastic. For not be a HDR, the exposure is really well done preserving a very good detail in all areas... is not  easy to preserve that under this huge contrast .The several layers with these irregular shapes add plasticity and driven me, even the first plane until the end .I'ts a good job,I don't have doubt.Regards

Hi Mario.  Thanks for the comment.  It should be noted that there actually was quite a bit less dynamic range here than people would think.  In fact, it was maybe 3 stops in the entire image and required little effort to control.  There's no direct lighting here.  Due to the long exposure in dark conditions it may appear that there was actually stronger light due to the amount of light recorded.  Everything you see here, all the light and all the tonal range was all because of reflected light.  No HDR could have ever captured direct light this well even with the best techniques.  The contrast and harsh textures would have been too much, introducing too many distractions.  In the gentle shadows, I'm able to focus on the subtleties of the striated stone.  There was direct, incredibly bright light hitting many walls hidden in this image.  There is direct light hitting between the folds of the wall on the right side, and also a lot of light hitting to the right of the background yellow and bouncing off the stone, causing the illumination you see.

Zsolt, thanks for your comments.  I really enjoy your work.  This was in fact my favorite as well, and required the most work to get of all my slot shots too.

Marc - Great recent additions - this reminds me of flames shooting upward.  I admire your drive to continue to find unique images, especially of the slots.  Otherwordly!  I was wondering if the sandstone in these slots have variety in color, or is this purely a result of the lighting?  I haven't yet been to a slot, but it sure looks enticing.

WOnderful job with this image.

Regards, Harry

The design facor is beautiful along with the contrasting colors. The light yellow section leads your eye into the photo and from there it can roam around and enjoy it.
