knobby6 0 Posted June 3, 2010 Another one of my favorite birds. Much more impressive than the bald eagle. This apex predator does vertical stoops from 500 ft much like a peregrine falcon and pulls up about 20 feet from the ground and does one hand grabs of rabbit or squirrels. Talons are about the size of an average mans hands and has legs like tree trunks. Link to comment

A magnificent and noble bird, as well as your typical superb presentation...A little trivia -- The Golden Eagle has a special place in the hearts of all of us Auburn Football fans. We have a beloved Golden that participates in a variety of campus events and is even set loose to circle the football field before each home game. It's always a thrill to see it circle and then take her final plunging dive to get the treat.
