Some things are universal. Discos may have started in New York, then

London, but they are nearly universal in the Western non-Islamic world,

and ubiquitous around the globe with one tending to look like another,

with disco dancersat their poles or cages, etc,, artificial smoke, gyrating

dancers in clusters (lower), bored (or drunk) patrons (right), and the

inevitable waitress hustling drink orders. Your ratings and critiques are

invited and most welcome. If you rate harshly or very critically, or just

wish to make a remark or observation, please post a helpful and

constructive comment; please share your photographic knowledge to

help improve my photography. (See you at the disco! Bet you thought I

did't go there, right? Think again!) Thanks! Enjoy! John

Thanks Ruud.

There should have been a documentary of my after midnight journey to this amusement park, in a Russian-made GAZ (jeep), topless in the middle of the night, no windshield, through a forest, along a riverside with a 6'7" giant of a guy who brooks no dissent from anyone.

Ever see the movie 'My Bodyguard?'

That was for kids and the protagonist was a nerd; mine was a friend, and brilliant but a HUGE guy and given to not being pushed around by ANYBODY.

He'd qualfy as a middle linebacker in anybody's league if a little younger, but also artistic and extremely well-educated - a top-flight mind.

I never felt safer in a strange and alien place with more drunk (and potentially aggressive and dangerous) people than you can imagine where I had never been before with photo equipment and never would go myself without 'protection' for fear of being accosted and lacking safeguards especially so late at night.

One look at him and any potential aggressors simply wilted.

We even climbed steps, etc., in the city's downtown with his 4-wheel drive, and later, when 'park admissions' gave us guff about supposed admissions fees (made up on the spot we think), simply offered to drive through the forest or fjord the river without paying (a made up on the spot fee -- no sign) fee to admit ourselves (and voila we were in).

He's sui generis -- a genuine character.

And knows where to find things like this, hidden away in forests, etc.

A series of theses shots took three or four seconds to do, and no one was the wiser.

He didn't even know, I think, until I showed them to him.

;~))

I can take 'em quckly, after spotting a likely situation.

This was the only likely circumstance all night, and it only lasted for a few seconds where the people were in conjunction for a photo -- otherwise everyone was spread out and disorganized -- lacking cohesion for a good photo, in this and all other places we stopped (plus horrible lighting everywhere).
