Rick, this is simply beautiful.  The slight asymmetry is wonderful.  Was the black background a matter of fortunate circumstances, or did you achieve this in processing?  Either way, it's a great "botanical portrait."

Thanks for the comments! Stephen, I actually used my black shirt as a backdrop for this. I just used the timer on my camera and kept running back and forth.

Rick, that's great.  I've carried around a black cloth for years for the same reason, but I have yet to use it (except to clean water off equipment).  The black background was really important to this photo -- nice work.

this is well done.  It could be also called "a ladder to Heaven".  First I wasn't sure about the two short(er) stalks, but I'm warming up to them - they kinda ground the image.  Cheers, Micheal
