birteragland 1 Posted May 21, 2010 Many of the children live on a diet of japarti and water which is major cause of them getting sick along with the unsanitary conditions. This diet has no nutritional value what so ever. We are hoping by the end of the year to set up a kitchen for the worst affected kids. Many of these children die before the age of 5,diorrhea is the major killer. Deaths amongst the slum dwellers of India has doubled in the past 10 years. A sad statement for a country whose economy is booming.India has a state of art hospital and medical system but unfortunately it does not trickle down to its poor. Link to comment
