Ricardo,

This little cutie is indeed radiant. You have focused well on her left eye. She has good eye contact with the camera (viewer) and a nice smile (perhaps a bit forced looking, but still nice). Her skin tone is very good. The background is nicely neutral and she is well separated from it. The contrast is good. The lighting looks good. There are some shadows to add interest and help to create a feeling depth within your photograph. I like the specular highlights on her lips even if they are only on the left side of her bottom lip. You might be able to get better highlights on her lips if the main light was aimed directly at the front of her face.

I would like to see more light in her eyes so that the whites of her eyes were really white. She does have some tiny little catch lights, but I would like to see a single more dominant catch light in each eye. It would be best if located at about the 10 or 2 o'clock position on her irises. This would give more life to her eyes. A little eyeliner under her eyes would frame them and make her eyes stand out even better. You really should soften the dark circle under her left eye.

It is best to have at least some of the whites of her eyes showing on each side of her irises. This helps to make her eyes look balanced. If this is not possible try to limit the amount of white showing on only one side. If you have her looking out of the corners of her eyes it looks awkward and unnatural. It is usual for a person to turn their head, at least somewhat, in the direction they are looking. You don't want it to appear that strain is put on the eye muscles.

You have focused on the eye nearest the camera which is what you are suppose to do. Your depth of field is so narrow that her far eye is clearly out of focus. It is not suppose to matter if the far eye is somewhat out of focus, if the near eye is in focus. The reasoning is that psychologically the viewer will consider the picture to be in focus if the eye nearest him or her is in focus. I'm not sure this is true.  I don't see a good reason to have any of her out of focus. An out of focus background is very nice and focuses attention on your subject. Parts of your subject out of focus will draw attention away from what is in focus. It is difficult to go wrong with having the entire subject in focus. This includes her far eye, the back of her head and her clothing.

Her head is tilted back too far. It looks uncomfortable and awkward. She appears to be straining her neck to hold it in that position. You usually do not want to have your subject turned 90 degrees to the camera. This can make the head look unsupported. It usually looks best to angle your subject somewhere around 45 degrees. This will help make her appear thin, feminine, graceful and elegant.

Your subject should have more room in front of her than behind. This allows her to be facing into the picture, not out of it. You want to compositionally balance the left and right sides of the photograph. The compositional "rule" for this suggests that you position the tip of the subject's nose in the vertical center of the photograph.

You really do not want any of her hairs falling across her eyes. You should either have her brush her hair out of her eyes before you shoot or do some Photoshopping. It really wouldn't hurt to have her brush her hair anyway. It is not very neat looking.

You can crop a little off the top. She doesn't need quite that much headroom.

Nice shot,

Mark

Un retrato precioso Ricardo. Si quisiera alabarla probablemente no lo haría mejor que diciendo solamente que es preciosa. A veces me cuesta explicar lo que veo... pero no me cuesta decir que me gusta.

Un saludo.

Excellent work,I agree about having a little more room in front of her,but I like the hair the way it is, and the light is excellent.

My goodness I am behind in my critiquing, I am so sorry for missing this one Ricardo.  Being an amateur I connot critique as Mark has, and I do not find the faults he does; mainly due to lack of knowledge.  But while his words will teach you much, I can only comment from what I see, and I see a very pleasant, youthful and quite beautiful young woman.

She seems relaxed in front of the camera and has the cutest smile.  For me it is a pleasant and relaxed shot. congrats, lovely.  Sincerely, Gail
