On Wednesday, May 12, 2010 the State of Israel held the annual

memorial service for some 4000 people from the Ethiopian Jewish

Community who perished in the Sudan Desert during their grueling on-

foot Exodus to Israel and were unable to fulfill their dream. In 1990 the

Israel Government, aware of the worsening danger to the Ethiopian Jews

made covert plans to airlift the entire population to Israel. In 36 hours,

non-stop flights of 34 Israel aircraft transported 14,325 Ethiopian Jews to

Israel. This "Operation Solomon" airlifted twice as many Ethiopians to

Israel as "Operation Moses" and "Operation Joshua" combined. The

operation set a world record for Single-Flight passenger load on May 24,

1991 when an El Al 747 carried 1,122 passengers to Israel. 1087

passengers were registered but dozens of children hid in their mother's

robes. Two babies were born during that flight. G_d Bless George Bush

Sr. for his aid and support in these operations. Arab pressure on Sudan

ended these waves of immigration and the "aliyah' operation remains to

be completed. Some 2100 Ethiopian Jews are still held in Ethiopian

Camps under difficult conditions. Today there are more than 36,000

Ethiopian Jews living in Israel.

I am not clear on what you mean as "this action". Is "action" meaning the memorial service or "action" meaning the event of exodus from Ethiopia or something else? Thank you for commenting.
