You might wonder about the title,.... simple explantion really ...as a

Fisherman, it's the kind of place I'd like to keep secret. (Yeah I know

very selfish) Your thoughts and observations are most welcome. Thank

Amazing and just sheer beauty in your fantastic capture. The softness that the trees and mountains puts into the reflections are so beautiful and the colors in the landscape are great. Really impressive work from you and your post treatment are first class. Great presentation Alf. Take really good care now and all the best to you and your family from Jannica.

Excellent image Alf.  Beautiful reflection and nice muted colors and tones. The two lonely boat houses are an added bonus.  I wonder if you took one shot with more of the reflection and less of the mountain in the background in fact raising the water line and increasing the value of the reflection in the composition. As it is it is really beautiful but i find myself trying to decide between the upper part or the lower part of the frame. Just a thought,  Overall the textures and colors just make this photo wonderfully peaceful. Regards - michel

Hi Alf, This picture makes me feel so calm. I can imagine floating along in a kayak or canoe just taking in the view. That is until the mosquitos come out. Do you have them in your country? As usual this work is so well captured that I feel myself being drawn into the scene. Your photos can never be passed by with just a glance. I especially like the muted colors and the smudged look of the reflections. Wonderful. Take care, Deanna

Another winner with this "jewel" of a shot. The two huts give the eye something to home on to and  your excellent p/p work adds to the scene....Regards

Peaceful and beautiful! I looked at this for sometime trying to decide if the lighting comes from the pp work...which is done so well ...or if the lighting is natural...maybe it is a combo of both ;) I played with this a little and wonder if you crop just above the trees, it serves to highlight the reflection making this a bit more impactful. Not that MHO matters but giving it anyway. As always my friend it is a pleasure to see your work and where you live!

Warm regards, Pamela

Alf,

Beautiful image, looks like a fisherman's pardise & a natue lover's. Wonderful reflection. Well processed. Take care, Patsy

Alf, Nice image, but a bit disorienting I would almost crop it tighter so to keep the reflection of the trees and lose the reflection of the mountain, that would allow seeing a little more of the detail of the shore and not have the eye pulled out of the picture by the dark along the bottom. I really like the way the trees are seen in the reflection. All the best, Charles

Beautiful shot, Alf. Tranquil, silence well captured, the interplay of transparency and reflection in the water is amazing. Wish yo get some trout there!

Alf,

I hope you can keep your secret place.  I have had several, most of which were "improved."  I had one that this reminds me of.  The last time I went there, I found they had built a road around it, and built several high rise apartments.  A tiny park had the one remaining  access to the water and was labeled "no swimming."

Yours is a wonderful beautiful place.  See it as many times as you can.  Photograph it in different light and time of day.

Regard,

Jerry Matchett

Very peacful and solitary scene with the boathouses breaking up the landscape beautifully. I like the way the reflections are not a mirror image but with almost and impessionist feel to it. Excellent work and I haven't a clue where it is as I know it isn't in North Wales, is it ?

Regards....John

MICHEL

Many thanks for your kind comments and your thoughts on this one, I wasn't sure about your suggestions, but then I just scrolled up enough for the top of the mountains to be hidden and wham! yeah I see what you mean, I would leave bottom of the Image as it is, as I like the stones under the water, and just crop the top just above the trees, it really does make a bigger impact, great suggestion! Thanks again Michel.

Kind Regards

Alf

DEANNA

Sincere Thanks for your visit and very kind comments. Ahh yes I can empathise with those thoughts, a laying back in a tiny boat or canoe, driftly peacefully, fingers trailing in the cool water, the gentle motion of the boat soothing and relaxing <sigh> We do get mosquitos but not to a great extent, more commonly we get midges, these tiny nuisances can bite like the devil! though I think I am now immune to them from a lifetime of being being near water, as a fisherman and photographer, and consequently being bitten by them. Thanks again Deanna!

PAMELA

Good to hear from you. The lighting colour etc is pretty much natural, I altered the contrast, cropped a fraction from top and bottom (there was a tiny stip of light above the mountains also reflected in the water that I didn't want) and then used unsharp mask to sharpen it very slightly, but that was about it. The late evening light and the new growth on the tree's conspired to be very kind that evening, but then I've been waiting 2 years to get the right conditions for this shot. Your suggestion and Michels above, to crop just above the tree's is spot on!, it really makes a difference. Many thanks for your kind comments and feedback Pamela, much appreciated!

Alf

PATSY

It really is one of those places that just look so tranquil when the right conditions prevail, Many thanks for your thoughts and comments Patsy, much appreciated!

JERRY

You are so right! we should appreciate what we have,  while we still have have it! The famous lyrics of Joni Mitchells old song ("Big YellowTaxi")never seemed so true "They moved paradise, and put up a parking lot" The problem is, it is still happening, even our inner city's are being mutilated with so called "modern architecture" I won't get on my soap box though, as I could fill several books with the subject I'm sure! Suffice to say I will take your advice, and photograph this place in different light and conditions, when ever I can. Sincere Thanks for your visit and your feedback Jerry, much appreciated!

JOHN

Thank you for stopping by and for your very positive feedback, I agree with you, the reflections do have that "impressionist" look about them, I like staring at the reflections for a while. and then looking up at the sharper focus of the top half, I have no idea why but I get a kick out of doing this. Theres not too many locations you don't recognise in North Wales, but I guess you'll know it when I tell you it's Lyn Dinas. Thanks again John.

Kind Regards

I think it's important to spend a little bit of time each week in an oasis of peace, away from the everyday madness we call life, luckily I usually manage to find a few hours each week, just me, my camera and if I'm really lucky a place like this. Thank you for your very kind comments Birte Take Care
