Ciao Andrea, very good shoot, the highlight make evidence the subject and give to the image a timeless mood, well done!

Nice shot. On my screen it goes a bit too bright, but the screen I have now in front of me isn't the best. I would try, nevertheless, to make the nun less bright and see what happens.

Elba is providing you with many very interesting settings as well! -- You're lucky :-) I like your pov here, with the ascending street leading to the school & the person in white in the middle. (great contrasts of light & shadow work well here too, imo :-) Ciao & many greetings to you, M

I like this image for its light, composition, DOF and the other elements which are all set right like the contrast and tone, wishing you all of the best.

You are the Master of shadow and light and black and white! Great job. Is this a high key photo? Beautiful.

Bella come al solito, in piu' mi piace l'idea di..."futuro" insita nell'ascesa dei bambini verso il loro domani, un futuro che sarà tutto in salita, senza facili retoriche! Ciao, Maurizio!

Very well done, the perspective is great - the viewer's eye is guided thru this pic very well. Great message here, and the editing matches it.

Bw / un caro saluto,

Volker

Impressive work, Andrea! There is a story behind the photo with very Italian feeling. I love the atmosphere. I think that the very bright side here adds a feeling of very hot day. Midday, very hot, lunch time, nobody outside under the Sun, except a lonely nun.

normally I would probably complain about the higlights being washed out but here it may have its meaning as the glare of the sun makes the viewer's journey towards the gate deep into the picture a nearly mystical experience. Intriguing work for sure, though leaves me with slightly mixed feelings. Thanks for sharing, ciao.

thanks again, my friends! starting from what wieslaw wrote, i liked to say something, not about this photo but generally. Digital photos opened the problems of  highligts and burned areas, as films have the problem of the shadows. We dont have to forget that highlight exists in the reality, but our eyes correct them in a while, much better that any lens. Anyway, in the reality, we do know that there is a too strong light. and also if we can correct it, we do know light is dazzling us. For this reasons, i think that higlights could become a language, in the digital photos, and also an interesting and new one. I have seen many photos here on pn where highlights was a well working style. in my photos i try sometime to get the limit of highlights, also if i have never been satysfied. I loved to arrive in giving the feeling of a dazzle, also loosing some details but not only loosing them.... anyway, is important to learn if and what highlights can give. ciao!
