I really worked at displaying the ornateness of the Engine (particularly

the light, guard and boiler cap) with a tight DOV and slight pan. The

goal was to minimize distraction yet leave context. I believe I achieved

the desired result. My question is whether it works artistically. I thank

you in advance for your time.

Its hard making images like this work, my advice to you is change the angel of veiw, either tilt the camera, or zoom in on the details.

What a cool shot. Two things jump out at me right away, the limited DOF is a fantastic device in this shot, and, the hand of the engineer is distracting. Those are the first two things I see. The sharpness of the central focal point really pulls the eye into the image. Regards.
