GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted May 1, 2010 This shot I recognized right away. My father worked in shoe stores from the time he was about 17 until he retired at 65. The smell of leather is one of my favorites. One of his good friends was a local 'shoe repair man'. I recall stopping off at the shop as I would walk home with Dad from the store from time to time. Quite often Dad would fix customers shoes. The hands of this man touch footware that of course is not always the most desireable, yet if he loves his trade, he does his job with much skill and care, knowing how much the quality of our footware affects our overall well being.Unfortunately they do not get paid well, but it is a skill that deserves much more merit. If our FEET are aching, then the rest of us suffers also. I've had 'new soles' put on a few pairs. The leather on top was fine, shoes I'd worn in and loved. Just like an old sweater that you never wanted to be without. This gentleman has tools that have repaired many shoes, and have seen many years of use. Wonderful shot Mehmet. This shot reminds me very much of the 'words' you use in your Biography. I think it is wonderful that as a surgeon, seeing people in very different circumstances and dress, that you have the desire to 'shoot' people on a more personal level. Warm regards to you Mehmet. Sincerely, Gail Link to comment
chris_panagiotidis 0 Posted May 1, 2010 Wonderful shot , Mehmet , of a trade that approaches its end. The use of the black and white medium veils the image with timessness. Best regards, Chris Link to comment
